Publishing can be lengthy, and publishing the first draft gives the author a vision of the finished product. No matter what road you decide to take, you are a success. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Judine Slaughter
Why do I, Judine Slaughter, PhD, prefer alternate publishing instead of pursuing a traditional publisher?
The reasons are four-fold:
One: I don’t want to spend a lot of money.
I'm always looking for the cheapest way to publish – one in which I can pay for goods or services in small increments instead of one lump sum payment. Alternate publishing affords me this opportunity.
Two: I call the shots.
For marketing my products, I have written book reviews and called the shots on how I want to write them. There are essential book review criteria, but for the most part, I have used my creativity to write whatever I have in mind.
My parents raised me to believe I could do anything I set my mind to. My thoughts about myself were the only obstacles in my path. After using alternate publishing for several books, I am convinced alternate publishing is only as hard as you think.
As an alternate publisher, I manage my time, resources, and temper. I set up a system for spending time with the family, budgeting my paycheck to pay the bills already accumulated, and learning to manage my email etiquette.
